Docusign – how to complete treatment consent at home for your Sheffield Dentist Treatment

Read our Insights to keep up to date with the latest developments in dental treatments, health tips, and expert advice from the Sandygate Dental team.

All of our patients receive a thorough oral health examination, after which we may advise that treatment is needed to maintain your oral health, and avoid further issues. We offer a wide range of treatment as your local Sheffield Dentist, and we always aim to ensure that all of our patients are well-informed about their proposed treatment. Treatments we offer include: fillings, root canal treatments, extractions, crowns, bridges, implants, invisalign, and more.

To that end, we have implemented digital consent forms that arrive via email for our patients. This means that our patients can read through the information about their treatment, why they have been recommended to have it, and the risks and benefits of it. This allows plenty of opportunity for patients to ask any questions, which we encourage. As your local Sheffield Dentist, we want to support our patients with the best advice, and the most up to date technology.

Why Docusign?

We use a software called Docusign. This software is designed to record your signature on documents digitally, called an ‘esignature’. This also means we are able to reduce the amount of paper we use as a Practice, contributing towards our Green Goals. As a Sheffield Dentist, we want to help preserve our local and national environment. We have chosen to use Docusign as it is fast, convenient and secure. They have millions of customers all over the world, and work with businesses like ours to make our esignature process efficient and secure.

How does it work?

As you leave your examination appointment, we book in your treatment with you and take a deposit for it.

We then send out an email consent form via Docusign. You are sent the password prompt via the initial email. When you have logged in, you will be able to see your consent form. Please read through this, noting any questions you have, and sign and date it. Occasionally we ask for a deposit for your treatment via card payment in your consent form, if we have been unable to do this in person at the Practice.

At the end of the form it should allow you to press a ‘finish’ button. You will be sent a copy of your completed Docusign consent form to your email address. We will also be notified when you have completed your form so that we can add it to your dental records.

We use Docusign for most of our treatments. If you have accessibility needs or don’t have an email address, we are able to complete your treatment consent on paper instead, if it is most suitable for you. If you would prefer to sign your Docusign in the Practice on a tablet, we are able to facilitate this as well. We work with our patients to have the best systems in place to support them.

We welcome questions and would like to support you in any way we can. If you have difficulty completing the treatment consent for any reason, please do contact us. We have had great feedback about our Docusign process since we have implemented it and we continuously improve our processes. As your local Sheffield Dentist, and an independent Practice, we are in a unique position to act on feedback quickly. If you have any suggestions on how we could improve our Docusign service, please get in touch. Our contact information is here:
