Check-ups

We call dental checkups ‘oral health assessments’; this is because we clinically assess more than your teeth. Our long-term approach is to support your overall wellbeing by assessing the health of your mouth and teeth.

Oral Health Assessments

Our long-term approach is to support your overall wellbeing by assessing the health of your mouth and teeth.

Oral Health Assessments can only be carried out by a dentist. We will check your medical history, teeth, cheeks, lips, the soft lining in your mouth and your gum health; we will also examine your jaw and neck.

Mouth Cancer Screening

This check will include a mouth cancer screening. With over 8,800 new cases of mouth cancer in the UK every year we know that early detection and diagnosis of this disease can improve the outcome. Deaths from mouth cancer occur because of late detection.  This is why we recommend patients attend the dentist every 6 to 12 months.

New Patient

If you are a new patient, your first visit will be slightly longer as we need to gather clinical and social information, such as your dental needs and desires, charting your teeth, take imaging photographs using x-rays and sometimes a digital scanner. These appointments take 30 minutes.

By using x-rays, 3D scans, digital imaging and cameras for diagnostic purposes, we can share these images with you, whilst explaining our findings, what treatment is needed, and why. If you require further visits, we will explain the risks and benefits of your treatment options, explain the costs and finance options, and the potential outcomes. This information allows you to make informed choices about your treatment and care.

Following your appointment, if you need more information, our Patient Care Coordinator would be more than happy to discuss things with you over the phone or face to face.
